In partnership with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DoJ&CD) the Foundation has implemented a programme titled: “Access to Justice and Promotion of Constitutional Rights Programme (Strengthening Civil Society Participation)”. Within the Programme, there are three result areas:
These form the basis for meaningful cooperation between the DOJ&CD and civil society in the justice and human rights sector, in partnership with the Foundation.
The transformation of society is premised on the values of dignity, equality, and non-discrimination in terms of our constitution. The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) recognises the role which civil society plays in strengthening South Africa’s constitutional democracy. The Department is also mindful that a strong, independent and efficient civil society is a pre-requisite for deepening democracy.
